Lesson 14 - PhpBrowser vs. WebDriver and Selenium server configuration
In the previous lesson, PHP testing - Creating Selenium acceptance tests, we prepared acceptance tests for our simple calculator in PHP. In today's advanced PHP tutorial, we're going to run them through the Selenium server, which we're going to install, configure, let it click through our web application in Chrome, and automatically verify that it works correctly.
Configuration
Before running into robust Selenium, we're going to run our tests using
the default acceptance driver - PhpBrowser, that just simulates a web
browser. We'll set the default URL for your application in the
acceptance.suite.yml
file, which is located directly in the
tests
folder. We need to edit the path of the "PhpBrowser" item,
either to "localhost" if your application runs in the root folder (this is my
case), or to enter some local domain or folder where the application is running
(e.g. "localhost/calculator"). My configuration looks like this:
actor: AcceptanceTester modules: enabled: - PhpBrowser: url: http://localhost/ - \Helper\Acceptance
Running the tests
We'll run our acceptance test with the command:
