The highly anticipated Chinese gacha game Neverness to Everness, often dubbed
"anime Grand Theft Auto," has officially kicked off its first closed beta test
for Chinese players. This marks a significant milestone for the game, which has
generated buzz due to its unique take on the gacha RPG genre.
The success of titles like Genshin Impact has fueled the rise of gacha games,
and now developer Hotta Studio is entering the fray with its latest project.
Following the success of its 2022 open-world RPG Tower of Fantasy, Hotta Studio
announced Neverness to Everness as a gacha RPG with an anime aesthetic, inspired
by the open-world chaos of games like Grand Theft Auto. The game features action
RPG-style gameplay with real-time combat and is set in an urban environment
reminiscent of Zenless Zone Zero.
As reported by PushSquare, Hotta Studio has begun a closed beta for Neverness
to Everness, allowing select Chinese players to experience the game for the
first time. Though only small gameplay snippets have been shown so far, the
studio has shared more details about the game's story, stating that it will take
a lighter, more whimsical approach compared to many other popular gacha titles.
However, no official release window has been provided.
During the beta, more details about the game are expected to emerge,
including features such as in-depth vehicle customization and the ability to buy
and decorate a personal home in the game. Hotta Studio has yet to confirm
whether the game will feature any multiplayer elements.
With a competitive market of recent gacha releases like Zenless Zone Zero,
Wuthering Waves, and the upcoming Infinity Nikki, Neverness to Everness will
face stiff competition. Fans of Hotta Studio can expect plenty more updates as
the closed beta progresses, giving a deeper look at this exciting new title.
