Lesson 18 - E-shop in PHP - Accounting settings
In the previous lesson, E-shop in PHP - Designing the person database, we designed the person database structure, which allows us to keep data history without having a large amount of redundancy. In today's tutorial, we'll implement the accounting settings.
Motivation
Running the internet shop is a profitable activity controlled by law. We have to do bookkeeping, and in some countries, e-shop owners are typically VAT (Value-added Tax) payers. However, this doesn't apply to small e-shops or to countries that don't have VAT. The VAT rate usually changes annually and the owner can decide whether to become or to stop being a VAT payer. E-shops can also change in owner, accountant, and so on. We'll make a database table for all these variables and implement a simple administration.
