Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by the microscopic mite Sarcoptes scabiei. It is characterized by intense itching, especially at night, along with redness, rashes, and small burrow-like tracks on the skin. Treatment for scabies typically involves medications to eliminate the mites and relieve symptoms.

The primary treatment for scabies is topical medications that kill the mites and their eggs. Ivermectin Cream 1%, a synthetic pyrethroid, is commonly prescribed and is applied to the entire body from the neck down and left on for several hours before being washed off. Sulfur ointment, crotamiton cream, and benzyl benzoate lotion are among other possible topical therapies.
